>> St Aulaire

The second-biggest economic centre in the Community of Communes, thanks to the Limousin apple and Périgord walnut trade. Belongs to the conurbation of Objat.

The origin of the town's name goes back to the 14th century. It is a patois deformation of the original name Sainte-Eulalie. In the Revolution, this town was known as "l'Unité".

Special features
Very ancient church rebuilt in the 15th century by the lord of the town, Jean de Beaupoil.

Polychrome stone pieta from the 16th century.

The castle destroyed in the Revolution in 1793 was rebuilt nearby in the 19th century, in a different style. No visits.

Beautiful villages with houses made of "brasier" (red, white and grey sandstone).
