« One of the most beautiful villages in France »

Medieval village set on the edge of the Périgord region, it belongs to the very select circle of "most beautiful villages in France". Tourism is the premier economic activity.

Saint-Robert experienced its golden years in the Middle Ages. A monastery was built by the monks of La Chaise Dieu in Auvergne and they baptised it St-Robert after the name of their founding father. This fortified village, built like an eagle's nest on the edge of a limestone fault, was a crucial site during the Wars of Religion.

Special features
12th-century Romanesque church with its ambulatory, choir, transept, apse, capitals… This magnificent building unfortunately had its nave removed - a victim of history. Magnificent 13th-century polychrome wooden Christ.

Miracle fountain of St-Maurice.

16th-century Verneuil Chapel.

Guided tours of the village.
