>> Ducks and geese

Duck and goose rearing is an ancestral tradition and the watchword is quality.

To meet the requirements of quality labels, Corrèze has become IGP recognised (Protected Geographical Designation) for ducks of South West France.

Rearing
In accordance with tradition, the ducks are reared outside during the day and brought into shelters at night, a factor which ensures high-quality produce - both the liver and the meat (magret, confit).

Fattening
The fattening process only starts at the 12th week and is done exclusively with maize for around 14 days.

>> By-products: feathers and down

The traditional rearing of Périgord and Limousin geese and ducks results in particularly well-developed plumages.

With insulating power superior to any other filling product, natural down is particularly appreciated by mountain enthusiasts. Compositions of feathers and down also serve to fill a whole range of traditional products such as pillows, duvets and eiderdowns. Down is also used to fill certain fashion clothing items.

The feathers and down of South West France are recognised as being among the best in the world on the international textiles market.

>> Objat market

The Sunday morning market with its age-old origins is an event in itself. It is the biggest in the region. For the countless visitors, it is a friendly meeting place offering the colours and aromas of days gone by.

>> Milk-fed calves

The rearing of milk-fed calves is also an ancestral tradition. Fed exclusively with their mother's milk, they are endowed with meat of exceptional flavour which cannot be compared to that of battery calves.

On the 2nd, 4th and 5th Tuesdays of each month, there is a calves fair in Objat. This has led to the dynamic town being recognised as a "remarkable site of taste".

Another milk-fed calves fair - biannual this time - takes place in Saint-Robert on Holy Monday and the 4th Monday of November.

>> Limousin apples

The Limousin apple is an upmarket product with remarkable flavour and quality which has benefited from Designation of Origin status since 2004. This product is delicious, handsome and healthy and is renowned all over Europe for its crunchiness and juiciness.
